Denise Soos Scholarship

The Denise Soos Scholarship for Language Students in Stage 6 2025

 

Applications due 15th November 2024

The Denise Soos Language scholarships sponsored by the Modern Language Teachers Association of NSW will be offered to two students currently in Year 10 who intend to study a language in Stage 6 in 2025. Applications will be accepted from candidates for Beginners, Continuers, [Language] in Context or [Language] and Literature courses. 

 

There will be two scholarships awarded. The value of each scholarship will be $500 to be used for resources for the Language studied or as a contribution to an in-country experience. 

 

To nominate a student, complete the Google Form Application. The form is designed to be completed by the student and the nominating teacher. Supporting documents can be uploaded directly on the Google Form. Nominating teachers must be MLTA NSW members.

Eligibility

  • The student must intend to study a Language in Stage 6 2025

  • The student must be nominated by the school’s language teacher 

  • The teacher of the Language at the school must be a member of MLTANSW

 

Criteria

An expert assessment panel will evaluate all applications using the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated commitment to the study of the Language in Stage 6 (proof of enrolment in 
    the Language course)

  • Demonstrated motivation to study the Language in Stage 6 

  • Value of supporting information

Process
Closing date for applications is Friday 15 November 2024. Successful applicants and schools will be notified in Term 4. Scholarship recipients will be funded upon evidence of attendance in the nominated Language course in Term 1 2025 (to be provided by MLTA member/school administration).
